Through their “More Culture, More Inclusion” programme, Fundación Repsol and Plena Inclusión Madrid participate in this exhibit. This initiative will host the works of artists with intellectual disabilities from 10th to 26th May in the Sala de Columnas at the Casa Árabe in Madrid.
This exhibit is the result of the “Convergent Space Art Residency” initiative, a space where professional artists and people pursuing artistic projects can meet and enrich each other's work outside the academic field.
The works exhibited are the result of a project that seeks to enhance and display the hidden qualities of artists through the technique of self-portrait. Through the use of a mirror, artists have been able to externalise artistic expressions through their own reflected images.
In addition to curating the exhibit, through this project Bilal Dadou, a Moroccan artist and contemporary art researcher, worked with several people with intellectual or developmental disabilities over a period of three months, including José Antonio Carrasco, Jacobo Gómez, Juan Sancha, Julián Migo, and Luis Sainz de la Cuesta.
