Fundación Repsol and FEAPS Madrid presented the document Manifiesto por una cultura inclusiva (Manifest for an inclusive culture), written by entities from the culture and disability field in the framework of the project More Culture, More Inclusion.

The Más Cultura, Más Inclusión project, developed jointly by Fundación Repsol and FEAPS Madrid, came into being with the objective of promoting the presence of disabled people in the world of culture, not only as audiences, but also as creators and active participants.

The manifesto, as it states in the preamble, is set out as a “guide for action, with the aim of building an inclusive culture, open to diversity”. Twenty associations that work for the full social integration of people with intellectual disabilities have taken part in writing the document.

Javier Inclán, director of the Fundación Repsol's Social and Institutional area, Javier Luengo, director of FEAPS Madrid and Dolores Navarro, Madrid City Council Family, Social Affairs and Participation Delegate took part in the event.

The Director of FEAPS Madrid spoke of the need for providing disabled people with access to culture via the necessary means of support.  He also emphasised the potential of some disabled people, not only as culture consumers but also as creators and professionals in this sector.

In this sense, the Director of the Social and Institutional Area of Fundación Repsol underlined the importance of culture as an engine for integration.  The Madrid City Council Family, Social Affairs and Participation Delegate said that society will benefit overall from this project.

Representatives from Fundación Anade, Afanias, Argadini, Fundación Ademo, Asociación Pauta, Fundación Psico Ballet Maite León, Fundación Trébol, Afandem-Grupo AMÁS, Debajo del sombrero, Fundación Síndrome de Down Madrid and FEAPS Madrid, who presented the main contents of the Manifesto for an inclusive culture, also took part in the conference, to present the main conclusions of Manifiesto por una cultura inclusiva (Manifest for an inclusive culture).

After the opening, the trailer of the documentary Todos sumamos, on culture and intellectual disability and directed by Diana Nava was showed. It will be released in October. It aims to raise awareness on the importance of effectively and truly combining these two concepts.

The conference concluded with a dance show with the performance of the Afanias Contemporary Dance Group with Alas para volar and the Fritsch Company with Des/envolturas, with individuals with and without disability.
