New accessible exhibit at MACBA

The El Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art) has presented their new exhibit, Colección MACBA 31, with the collaboration of Fundación Repsol. This exhibit will be open until July 2017.

The exhibit is part of the accessibility project which Fundación Repsol started in March 2014 with the objective of making art more accessible to people with disabilities by minimising physical, cognitive, and financial barriers.

The exhibit includes 85 works by 50 international artists dating from 1959 to 2014 and is organised into three concepts: experience, time, and conflict. To make the exhibit more accessible, tactile versions with embossed profiles have been developed, as have the labels and signage. Brochures and location maps have also been made available in Braille. Models of selected works from the exhibit have also been created, which can be touched by visitors during the adapted guided tour.
