For the fifth year in a row, Fundación Repsol is awarding a 5000-euro scholarship for academic achievement to a student of the Technical University of Cartagena, as part of its agreement with the university's social council.

Fundación Repsol and the social council of the Technical University of Cartagena (UPC) have awarded the 5000-euro scholarship for academic achievement for the 2015-2016 academic year. On this occasion, the winner of the scholarship was an undergraduate of Industrial Technologies.  Furthermore, the grants awarded in previous years to students who are still studying at UPC was renewed.

The ceremony took place at UPC's assembly room during the St Thomas of Aquinas festival, during which other academic awards were presented and several professors were commended for their work. The event was attended by José Antonio Franco, rector of UPC, Eugenio Galdón, chair of the social council, and María Isabel Sánchez-Mora, councillor of education and universities for the Region of Murcia.

The goal of this scholarship program, now in its fifth year, is to collaborate with the university to help students who have a solid academic track record and are highly motivated in their studies, but are facing economic, social, or personal difficulties. This scholarship program extends to other universities like Rovira i Virgili University and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

Fundación Repsol and Repsol's industrial facility in Cartagena also run a programme that awards vocational training scholarships, with the goal of encouraging vocational training as an educational option and promoting job placement for young people, especially those with disabilities and/or at risk of being marginalized.

Fundación Repsol stands firmly by its commitment to improve education and training with the long term goal of contributing to the progress and development of society.
