Fundación Repsol and the Social Council of Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in Tarragona have presented the scholarships the two organisations awarded to 20 students enrolled in the 2016-2017 academic year.

In addition to students enrolled in undergraduate programmes, scholarships were expanded this year for students to further their education by completing a master's degree.

The scholarships were presented at the URV Auditorium, and the ceremony was presided by Ignacio Egea, Vice Chairman of Fundación Repsol; Josep Anton Ferré, Rector of URV; and Joan Pedrerol, Chairman of the URV Social Council.

The goal of this scholarship programme is to collaborate with the university to help students who have a solid academic track record and motivation but are facing economic, social, or personal difficulties to complete their studies.

Every year, five new scholarships are awarded, amounting to €5,000 each, and existing ones are renewed for the same amount, according to the terms of that edition. The total budget for this edition amounts to 100 000 euros.

This scholarship programme is yet another example of Fundación Repsol's commitment to education by supporting the talent of young people to promote the development of society.  In addition to Tarragona, Fundación Repsol promotes scholarships to access university studies in collaboration with the Technical University of Cartagena and the University de Castilla – La Mancha.
