Find out the winners of the 2nd edition of the Energy Challenge UPM-Repsol Foundation 2022

On 28 March, the Final of the 2022 Energy Challenge took place, organised by the Repsol Foundation Energy Transition Education and Research Programme - Sustainable Mobility at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. The competition saw 50 students from the Polytechnic University of Madrid take part, organised into 13 teams, of which seven reached the final.

Carsharing Encouragement is a project whose aim is to make the operations of a car sharing company more efficient and sustainable by avoiding ‘empty journeys’. To this end, it proposes a modification of the current fares offered to customers with the aim of encouraging the use of these cars during off-peak hours and that the customers themselves move the fleet from the coldest to the hottest points, thus avoiding operational journeys of no direct benefit to the user.

The Polytechnic University of Madrid, through the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers, and the Repsol Foundation, created the Energy Transition Education and Research Programme with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of the energy transition in various areas of society and focuses on three lines of action: carbon footprint in mobility, improvement of air quality, and emerging technologies for mobility.
