Repsol Foundation recognizes CEIP Ponte dos Brozos and IES Rafael Dieste as the best Zinkers schools in the A Coruña area
    The Repsol Foundation has announced the two schools recognized as the best Zinkers centers in the A Coruña area. CEIP Ponte dos Brozos in Arteixo in the primary category and IES Rafael Dieste in A Coruña in the secondary category have been selected among the schools in the A Coruña area that participated in the last edition of the Zinkers 2024/25 Awards. Each of the two award winners will receive economic funding of 2,000 euros to develop an educational innovation project at their school.
The award ceremony was held this morning at the headquarters of the Fundación Paideia in an event in which the main protagonists were students and teachers. The event was attended by the Councilor for Education, Training, and Technological Innovation of A Coruña, Juan Ignacio Borrego; the Councilor for Equality, Social Services, Health, and Education of the Council of Arteixo, Inés Ramos, and the director of the Repsol Industrial Complex in A Coruña, Natalia Barreiro.
The Zinkers educational programs, promoted by the Repsol Foundation, are free digital curricular tools in which around 7,000 Primary, Secondary, and VT schools in Spain are enrolled, of which 600 belong to Galicia.
The participating students have demonstrated with their work everything they have learned through the Zinkers programs, references in curricular content on energy, climate change, sustainable development, and 2030 Agenda. In this way, the 6th grade students of CEIP Ponte Dos Brozos in Arteixo together with their teacher Adolfo Carabias, have carried out different activities during the course to promote sustainability such as the creation of an urban vegetable garden to teach about sustainable agriculture; the planting of trees in degraded areas and collaboration in the cleaning of the surrounding beaches, and research into new ways to save water.
On the other hand, the 3rd ESO students of IES Rafael Dieste with their teacher Mónica Reigía have worked on a project based on the circular economy and responsible consumption with various initiatives such as participation in the Feira da Sostenibilidade, the black Friday campaign in the school, the dissemination of awareness through audiovisual media, social media, or web; as well as the Amor de auga lixeira project for the use and protection of source heritage, which won the Imaxina award for social commitment.
In the afternoon, this day will culminate with the round table "Sustainable projects of schools in the environment", aimed at education professionals in which the importance of educational projects led by schools in the area of A Coruña will be highlighted. The meeting will be attended by teachers Belén López from CEIP Portofaro, Cambre; Alba Souto from IES a Sardiñeira; Adán Gonçalves from IES Isidro Parga Pondal, representatives of Primary, VT, and Secondary, respectively. In addition, teacher Delia Outes from Colegio Nuestra Señora del Carmen, the absolute winning school of the 4th edition of the Zinkers Awards in the Secondary category, will speak.
The events have been presented by the magician and Secondary school teacher, Jorge Luengo, who has combined entertainment with messages about the role of teachers in education.
