Toward a circular economy: closing ceremony

In the closing session of the Circular Economy conference series, organised by the Repsol Foundation and Funseam, María Teresa Costa, director of the Energy Sustainability Education and Research Program at the University of Barcelona, welcomed attendees and noted that a climate neutral future requires a transformation process that is progressing at what continues to be a slow rate. Joan Batalla, general director of Funseam, spoke to provide a summary of the primary conclusions we can take away from this first edition of the conference series.

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán, stated that the circular economy is a key objective for the government because it represents the change of economic model needed to make the planet’s future sustainable.

Repsol Chairman Antonio Brufau also participated in this final session, noting that the energy transition and the fight against climate change are priorities and the circular economy is part of the solution.

This event is part of the Repsol Foundation’s Conference series aimed at encouraging serious debate and familiarity about the challenges in the future of energy.
